segment thirty-one

When Tay finally moved off of the computer, I went down to use it and discovered that he must have done something to the flowers because they weren't on the desk anymore. Why couldn't he just use his own lap-top, I thought and was happy to finally get my computer back.

Alex happened to be online at the time. I told her everything. By the time I was done typing everything down in chat, I could almost picture her shocked face in front of the computer.

Alex: That actually happened?
Jen: Yuppers
Alex: He still won't talk to you?
Jen: Nope
Alex: Wow, girl, I feel bad. Maybe I should talk to him
Jen: Nah, that's OK. Ike and Zac are already helping me out here
Alex: I just wish I were in Virginia right now!
Jen: I wish you were here too! It would be so cool and I'd have someone to cheer me up...

After chatting, I checked my email and found as many emails as before sitting in my inbox. I wasn't in the mood to read any though. I only opened the ones with interesting subjects and the ones from people I knew and not too long after, I noticed the sky getting darker outside.

'POP' went a noise from behind me. I twirled around in my chair. It was Taylor. He had come up behind me and was opening the lid to Jennifer's cage. Tay looked up at me and gave me a look that seemed to say, "Please don't bother trying to talk. I don't feel like it." He scooped up his mouse and started to walk off at leisurely speed.

"No, Taylor, wait!" I called after him from the computer. I wanted him to say something to me. It was strange, but I hadn't even heard his voice for a while. I hadn't even listened to their CD. "Tay, please!" I called up the stairs after him. No reply.

He must be really mad. But I'm just trying to be friendly again! He's not being fair! I turned back to the computer and began to type. Then I came up with an idea. I would write Tay an email! If I couldn't get through to him by talking, maybe he would at least see what I've been trying to tell him if I mailed him. I clicked on compose.

Subject: Please Read Before You Delete...

Dear Taylor,
Please hear me out and read this entire message before you delete it. I know you're mad at me and you don't want to talk, but I just want to let you know that I'm sorry. I never ment to hurt you and I admit that how I acted was wrong. I should have respected your decision instead of breaking into tears and yelling. I hope we can still be friends like we were before. I really hope we can still talk like normal. I still like you. Please understand. I never wanted you to feel this way. If you feel like talking, you know where to find me. If not, please at least reply back. Thanks.
Peace, Love, and Bullet-Proof Marshmallows,

I read my message over and over until I was sure I liked it, then I clicked 'send.' Next time Tay checked his email, he'd find something from me. I just hoped he would take the time to read it.

I was about to log off when a new message appeared in my inbox. It was from Taylor. I practically jumped on top of the computer with joy. He had actually mailed me back! He had probably gotten onto his lap-top upstairs or something.

I tried to keep my breathing normal when I clicked on his name to read the email. I scrolled down to the body and my mouth dropped open. Only two lonely words were printed.

Bug Off

Oh, the nerve! I felt my heart collapse again. He hadn't forgiven me. What was his problem anyway? He still didn't want to have anything to do with me! The same thoughts went through my mind over and over again. He hates me now and there's nothing I'll ever be able to do about it.

I don't know how long I sat there, but, trust me, it took me a while to snap back into the real world.

"That's it! I can't take this anymore!" I yelled out loud and stubbornly clicked 'delete' and got rid of Tay's hideous message. Once my inbox loaded again, I felt my rage growing, and it wasn't being replaced with pain this time. If it was war that Taylor wanted, he'd get it. I'd give him the silent treatment and let him see how it feels!

I didn't even bother getting out of the network before I practically punched in the switch on the computer as I shut it down. I wanted him back more than anything and I had been willing to do anything. Now, I didn't feel any love for him anymore. Taylor Hanson was only another annoying boy that I could care less about if I just squashed him like a bug.

I knew he had been thinking the same thing the whole time. The feeling was officially mutual. "Watch yourself Taylor Hanson. If it's the silent treatment you want, you're definetely gonna get it!"
